MP wears football team’s kit to House of Commons as fans dub her ‘the coolest’
Labour and Co-op MP for Walthamstow Stella Creasy has been dubbed the ‘coolest MP’ after she wore a football club jacket in the House of Commons.
Creasy was present in the House of Commons on Wednesday and showed her true colours as she repped for her constituencies football club Walthamstow FC.
Semi-professional Walthamstow play in the Isthmian League North Division, the eighth tier of English football, and their MP has given the club a boost ahead of the new season.
Creasy posted a picture of her donning the club’s jacket to her 166k followers on Twitter, as well as a close up of the badge.

The post was captioned: “Only Walthamstow FC could have a new william morris inspired football kit that you can wear in parliament – available in two weeks! #loveWalthamstow.”

One Walthamstow FC supporter replied: “Coolest MP,” with a second commenting: “Hope you're going to tweet out a link to buy it!”
Former frontbencher under Ed Miliband and Harriet Harman’s leadership between 2011 to 2015, Creasy has been the MP for Walthamstow since 2010 and has grown in popularity in recent general elections with her football club display clearly resonating with the local area.
Walthamstow FC have relied on their passionate fanbase after years of uncertainty in the boardroom saw the club leave their home at Wadham Lodge in 2008 and move to Ilford in Essex.
But the club look to be back on the right track after they won the Essex Senior Football League in 2022 before finishing 4th in the Southern League Division One Central in their first season back in the eighth tier.
Walthamstow FC will play in the Isthmian League North in the 2023/24 season after being transferred due to their location.
And they’ll be hoping for another successful season with the new publicity the club has found following Creasy’s support at Parliament.
