Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho believes that Harry Kane’s lack of trophies at club level will spur him on at Euro 2020.

Despite having won numerous individual accolades, Kane has yet to lift a trophy during his career. 

As a consequence, Mourinho feels that the striker will be especially determined to go all the way with England this summer.

Mourinho told The Sun: ‘Harry (Kane) is the one that has on his shoulders a lot.

‘The country expects a lot from him. He expects a lot from himself.

‘He’s the captain and he wants to win something. He’s not doing that with the club, so, of course, he’s going to try everything he can to do it with the Three Lions.’

Mourinho believes that there are some significant signs that this could be England’s year.

Despite his individual achievements, Kane has still yet to win a trophy during his career

Manager Gareth Southgate can call upon excellent young prospects such as Phil Foden and Mason Mount, while the fact that England are co-hosting the tournament could also be hugely beneficial.

Mourinho feels that now is the ideal time for England to win their first trophy since 1966.

He said: ‘This is a generation full of good players, even the young players. The squad is amazing. England has to go with everything.

‘The group phase is at home. The semi-finals and final is at home. It has to be now, because it was in 1966. I think they have to push with everything.’

Kane boasts an impressive record for England having found the net 34 times in 54 appearances.

Having won the golden boot at the 2018 World Cup, Kane will be looking to do likewise this time around, although he will be more focused on England being successful.
