Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell face missing England's round-of-16 tie at Euro 2020 after being told to self-isolate until next Monday.

Both players began a period of isolation yesterday after coming into contact with Billy Gilmour during England's game with Scotland at Wembley.

The Chelsea team-mates were pictured in close contact with each other at full-time with Gilmour later testing positive for Covid-19.

Mount and Chilwell's isolation period means they cannot be in contact with the rest of the England squad until next Tuesday at the earliest.

They will definitely miss Tuesday night's final group game against the Czech Republic – and they could be unavailable for the round-of-16 depending on where England finish in Group D.

If England finish second or third in Group D their round-of-16 tie will be played on Monday night.

As Mount and Gilmour's isolation period does not end until that date, they would be unavailable for the fixture.

If England finish top of Group D, their last-16 tie will take place a day later on Tuesday 29 June.

An FA statement read: "We can confirm that Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount must isolate up to and including next Monday [28 June]. This decision has been taken in consultation with Public Health England.

"The pair were confirmed overnight as close contacts of Scotland’s Billy Gilmour after his positive COVID-19 test

"Chilwell and Mount will isolate and train individually in private areas at England’s training base St. George’s Park, with the rest of the squad returning there after tonight’s fixture against Czech Republic at Wembley.

"We will continue to follow all COVID-19 protocols and the UEFA testing regime, while remaining in close contact with PHE.

The entire England squad and staff had lateral flow tests on Monday and all were again negative, as was the case with Sunday’s UEFA pre-match PCR tests.

"Further tests will be carried out as and when appropriate."
