This is the moment that former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson passionately celebrated Antony’s winning goal against Barcelona from the Old Trafford stands.

After a flat first-half at Old Trafford, an inspired Man United came from a goal behind to knock the European giants out of the Europa League thanks to goals from Brazilian duo Fred and Antony.

Fred had cancelled out Robert Lewandowski’s 18th minute penalty just moments into the second-half, while half-time substitute Antony netted the winner with a sublime first-time finish with less than 20 minutes to go.

Bruno Fernandes outmuscled Raphinha to keep the move alive, and after Alejandro Garnacho and Fred’s efforts were blocked, the ball dropped to Antony who buried it past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen with a cultured finish.

Heartwarming footage has captured the moment that Sir Alex Ferguson celebrated the goal by applauding the high-flying United squad and punching the air in delight – something United fans will be more than familiar with.

Half-time substitute Antony sent Manchester United into the last-16 of the Europa League with a sublime finish

It comes after past and present bosses Ferguson and Ten Hag met for dinner in Cheshire earlier in the week ahead of a massive week for the club.

The pair were seen deep in conversation over dinner in Italian restaurant Cibo in Wilmslow on Tuesday night.

United have got the first job done by knocking out booking their place in the last-16 of Europa League. However, Ten Hag has a matter of days to prepare his side for a Carabao Cup final against Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday.

Speaking about what it means to have Fergie around, Ten Hag said before the Europa League tie: ‘It’s massive. I always enjoy speaking with people who have a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience,’ he said.

‘He wants to share it, he wants to help and support.

‘Manchester United is his club and he feels so committed. We are doing well. It was a great night and I look forward to the next night with him.’
