Moment between Jurgen Klopp and Sadio Mane spotted in Liverpool tunnel
Jamie Redknappp focused on a moment between Jurgen Klopp and Sadio Mane during the half-time break of Liverpool's 1-0 defeat by Chelsea on Thursday night.
The Sky Sports pundit noticed the Reds manager pull the Senegalese in for a hug as the players made their way back onto the pitch.
Mane hasn't been himself in recent weeks and last scored in the Premier League two months ago against Tottenham.
As Klopp hugged the glum-looking striker, Redknapp said on Sky Sports: "They need to get the ball up to the front men because a bit more has got to happen for this man – he needs that cuddle – for something to come off his backside or something like that."
Klopp's approachable and tactile manner has won him plaudits in the past and it is widely believed to play a part in his Liverpool's side success over the past two seasons.
But his hug didn't have the desired effect against Chelsea at Anfield on Thursday, with the Blues hanging on to win.
Defeat for Liverpool, their fifth in six in the Premier League, means they are now four points behind Chelsea in fourth and in real danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League next season.
"It is a massive blow," said Klopp of the defeat.
"It is not done yet, but we don't have to talk about if you lose that many games, you don't have the right to go to the Champions League. We have to win football games and we know that and we will work on it, but for tonight, it was not enough."
