Mohamed Salah’s agent has hit back at reports that claim the Egyptian has held talks with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi over a potential move.
Salah enjoyed another impressive season at Liverpool despite the club’s overall struggles, bagging 30 goals in all competitions.
The 31-year-old signed a new long-term deal last year that will keep him at Anfield until 2025, however there has been speculation over his future with Liverpool failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Reports across the continent on Thursday afternoon stated that Salah has met with PSG chief Al-Khelaifi while on holiday in Morocco.
But the player’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa quickly denied such a meeting had taken place, posting on his Twitter account a short rejection of the accusations.
Reports in France suggested that Mohamed Salah is angling for a move away from Liverpool
There were suggestions that Salah met with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi (pictured) in Morocco
‘No, he did not. That’s the short story,’ Abbas stated in reply to a story published by a popular French media outlet
The news will come as a relief to Reds supporters who would have been concerned that the forward could potentially be pursuing a move elsewhere.
Salah has been crucial to Liverpool’s success in recent years, helping the Merseyside club end their wait for the Premier League title along with lifting the Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had previously downplayed any suggestions that Salah could angle for a summer move away from the English giants.
Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa stated no such meeting ever took place between the player and PSG
The German explained: ‘No worries [about Salah] – no. I only heard what he said, I couldn’t read anything that could lead in that direction.
‘Mo loves being here and Mo was part of, he said, apologies for what “we” did – not apologies for “what the other guys did.”
However, the club could be without him during a crucial run of Premier League matches next season due to his national team commitments.
Egypt’s participation in the African Cup of Nations means Salah is likely to miss key top-flight clashes against Bournemouth, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
