Mohamed Salah admits he’s changed his opinion on Man Utd this season

Mohamed Salah admits he has changed his opinion on Liverpool’s fixture with Manchester United this year.

The Red Devils head to Anfield on Sunday three points clear at the top of the table after a strong run of form.

In recent years, Salah’s side have been miles clear of their old rivals in the Premier League table meaning the Egyptian treated it as just another game.

But with United looking to move six points clear at the top, Salah says the game is now a "little bit special" with potentially huge ramifications for the title race.

“The game is really big at the moment, especially because now they are first and we are second,” the Egyptian told TV2.

“They are playing well this season as well. It’s a good game but at the end of the day we need to win that game, I think that’s the most important thing.

“I always say it’s just one game, it’s only one game. But because this one, if they win they are going to be six points [ahead of Liverpool ] and if you win you’re going to be the same, it’s a little bit special this game.

“It’s always different. The last two years I’ve always said it’s one game and that’s it, it’s three points.

"But this game now, because they are first and you have to be close to them and beat them to be first as well, it’s a little bit special.”

Despite plenty of pressure on ahead of the biggest game of the season so far, Salah insists Liverpool are in a strong frame of mind.

“Around the training ground you feel how the players are focused on the game, how the players are pushing each other to win games,” he said.

“We also lost a couple of points in the last couple of games, so we need to come back to our way and we need to stay on track to win games so we can keep fighting for the Premier League.”

The forward also insists team results are his priority despite his chase for a third Premier League Golden Boot.

“I’m happy when the team wins, that’s the most important thing,” he added.

“When I’m scoring goals and can help the team, that makes me more happy. When I don’t score and the team doesn’t win, that’s a nightmare!

“But I’m happy when we are first, I’m happy when I score goals to help the team because the team comes first before anything and before anyone.”
