Ramsdale recently lost the No.1 goalkeeper spot to summer signing David Raya, with the Spanish star favoured by Gunners boss Arteta in recent weeks.
But Arteta handed Ramsdale a start as Arsenal took on Brentford in the third round of the Carabao Cup, a match which they won 1-0 in west London.
Ramsdale caught the eye on his return with a crucial second-half save from Yoane Wissa and he also denied Frank Onyeka late-on as he recorded a clean sheet.
‘He’s been exceptional around the place and especially with the situation,’ Arteta said about Ramsdale after the game.
‘We love him, for sure. We know his character and what he brings to the team and we are happy to have him.
‘Every player is very important. Today he had the opportunity to play and he had a really good game. I’m really happy.
‘It was a great save [to stop Yoane Wissa] and crucial for us to win the game.’
Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher has urged Ramsdale to leave Arsenal because he does not think that the 25-year-old will be able to reclaim the No.1 spot.
Carragher also suggested that Ramsdale was being fake when his reaction to Raya’s key save in Sunday’s north London derby went viral, which saw the player’s dad call the pundit a ‘disgrace’.
