Middlesbrough star Bamba "too old for this s***" in reaction to Man Utd win
Manchester United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough on Friday night in a historic victory, though Sol Bamba didn’t appear too overwhelmed by the occasion.
After a 1-1 draw after extra time, the game was settled by penalties.
Young winger Anthony Elanga blazed his spot-kick over the bar in sudden death which led to huge celebrations from the players and the 9,000 away supporters – bar Bamba.
Instead of racing around the pitch in sheer joy, the defender simply stood with his hands aloft, emotionless after the 16-shot shootout – in which he coolly put away his penalty.
The former Cardiff City was caught in the act, with the official Emirates FA Cup Twitter account tweeting the photos with the caption: “What a feeling! Not sunk in for Sol Bamba, though!”
The 37-year-old then replied: “I’m too old for this s***,” with three laughing emojis.
United’s chances of securing any silverware under Ralf Rangnick now look incredibly slim, with the Premier League title markedly out of reach and the club with a tough Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid on the horizon.
The Red Devils missed numerous chances to beat Boro in normal time, especially considering Cristiano Ronaldo blasted a penalty wide after 20 minutes before Jadon Sancho opened the scoring five minutes later.
Matt Crooks equalised for the Championship outfit in the 64th minute, and Chris Wilder’s men managed to survive the onslaught of United beyond that point.

However, there was plenty of controversy surrounding Middlesbrough’s equaliser as Duncan Watmore appeared to handle the ball before looping the ball over the onrushing Dean Henderson for Crooks to smash home from close range.
The rules state that an accidental handball is only penalised if that player goes on to score, but as Watmore assisted, the goal stood.
Speaking about the incident, pundit Ian Wright said: “Absolutely not deliberate. You look at him and he’s trying to move his hand out the way. It’s just the momentum.”
Roy Keane also held the same opinion, adding: “I agree. It’s accidental. They’re the rules and you have to take that bit of luck on the night.”
