Micah Richards could not contain his joy after watching Manchester City equalise against Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League semi-final victory and was filmed running around the studio screaming.

The CBS Sports pundit’s hilarious celebration was so loud and animated that it almost caused Jamie Carragher to jump out of his seat.

Pep Guardiola’s City have now got one foot in the final after staging a remarkable turnaround to claim a famous victory in the first leg in Paris.

The Ligue 1 champions had got off to the perfect start when Marquinhos headed in the opener after just 15 minutes, but they collapsed in the second half as City took  the ascendancy.

First, Kevin De Bruyne’s teasing cross into the box found its way into the back of the net after it evaded everyone and caught Keylor Navas off guard and then minutes later Riyad Mahrez’s free-kick sneaked through a gap in the wall to find the bottom corner to turn the game on its head.

Former City star Richards, who spent 10 years at the club during his playing days, was filmed leaping from his chair and running around in celebration in fervent scenes after De Bruyne’s fortuitous equaliser.

Richards’ celebration for Mahrez’s strike was more subdued as he held his arms aloft before giving Carragher a wry smile.

When Idrissa Gana Gueye got sent off for a ugly lunge on Ilkay Gundogan in the 77th minute, Richards started singing and dancing in his chair as he rubbed it in in front of a stony-faced Carragher.

The victory leaves City just 90 minutes away from a maiden Champions League final.

Guardiola, who is searching for a record-equalling third title in the competition, hailed City’s attitude in the French capital after a shaky start.

‘I admired how they changed from not doing well – it means a lot to me,’ Guardiola said. ‘We convinced them at half-time that when we are who we are, everything is easier.

‘We adjusted some little, stupid unimportant things and then it depends on the personality of the players.

‘You can play a little bit cautious in the knockouts. [After] were fantastic. We were more aggressive.

‘I understand the players, sometimes they don’t feel comfortable, they feel the responsibility. I’m not complaining about that. I told them not to be shy, try to play with our identity.

‘You cannot win qualification in the first leg but you can lose it. When you are not good, you can lose two or three and it’s over.

‘They feel the responsibility. If we lose, we lose. We’ll try again next season, no problem, but try to play our game.

‘There is hard work to do, especially against a team that has Neymar. It’s a good result but everything remains open. I feel that my players know that.’
