Messi already linked with move back to Barcelona after flop start to PSG career
Six-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi has been linked with a move back to Barcelona having only quit the La Liga giants for Paris Saint Germain three months ago.
Due to the Catalan club's depleting finances, their star man was unable to be registered in time for the new season and headed for pastures new in Paris.
Messi has already stated his desire to return to Barcelona once his contract with PSG expires and now there are calls from within the Camp Nou to bring back their beloved Argentine.
Marca report that Victor Fonte, who came second to Joan Laporta in the presidential election, is imploring the club to pursue a return for Messi.
Speaking on Catalan radio, Fonte declared his desire to see the 34-year-old back in red and blue.
He said: "His departure deserved to be through the front door,
"From that moment on, the club should be thinking about how Messi could return to Barcelona in 2023."
It has not been an easy ride for the Argentine since linking up with Mauricio Pochettino's star-studded squad.
With a world-class frontline already in place, Messi has had to compete with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Angel Di Maria for game time and has often found himself out of the team.
The former Barca man has started just seven of PSG's 17 matches so far this season, with fitness issues and an injury to his knee halting his progress in Paris.

And despite netting three goals in as many matches in the Champions League, his league form has been dire.
Having been deployed by Pochettino on the right, upfront and behind the striker, Messi is yet to find a favoured position at PSG and has failed to register a goal or an assist in Ligue 1.
