McCoist ‘wants to smack’ Luis Suarez for action that left Antonio Rudiger riled
Ally McCoists admits he wanted "to smack" Luis Suarez after an apparent pinch on Antonio Rudiger.
Atletico Madrid striker Suarez was unable to prevent his side falling to a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The former Barcelona star was seen as the Spanish side's main danger man, but he and his team put in a lacklustre performance in Bucharest.
Suarez failed to register a shot on target and his frustration seemed evident in the latter stages.
He and Rudiger came to blows as they clashed late on with the Uruguayan allegedly pinching the Chelsea defender on the knee.
It bought about an angry reaction from Rudiger with Edouard Mendy separating the duo.
McCoist reacted to the incident on Wednesday, and was less than impressed with Suarez's actions as he set off on a rant.
"That's horrible!" said McCoist on TalkSPORT.
"Honest to God, you'd rather he punched you! The nip, there's no need for that, there's no place for the nip in football! And you don't need long nails to be a good nipper, because you can really nip if you just get the skin.
"But I wanted to smack him when he did that, it really annoyed me!
"But he's gone from biting to pinching… we're going to get to the stage in his final year where we're going to applaud him when he stamps on somebody, because of the heights he's reached!"
Suarez has twice been banned previously for biting – one of those occasions coming during his Liverpool days.
The forward was seen biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in a clash at Anfield back in 2013.
He did so again a year later at the World Cup in Brazil during a group game between Uruguay and Italy.
