Mbappe footage proves Rabiot right about Frenchman putting on ‘interview voice’

Adrien Rabiot might well have been proved right after claiming that his France international team-mate Kylian Mbappe puts on a fake voice for interviews.

The Juventus midfielder, who played alongside Mbappe at PSG between 2017 and 2019, spoke out in chat with media earlier this week following their World Cup final heartbreak.

A chuckling Rabiot said: "Kylian, he annoys me when he changes his voice in an interview. When we're together, he talks normally.

"But when you watch the interview, I don't know why, his voice changes. It's annoying."

Following that, social media users have been searching for clips of Mbappe which show him altering his voice – with one TikTok clip seemingly doing just that.

One comment said: "HE SOUNDS LIKE THIS??? VERY UNEXPECTED."

And a second recently tweeted: "can’t stop watching this bc of his voice."

The voice of Mbappe, 24, seems deeper that it has done in post-match interviews while he was picking FIFA Ultimate Team stats when compared to a post-match Champions League offering.

The change in tone could well come from Mbappe speaking English rather than French – but it isn't quite on the level of former Wigan and current Chesterfield boss Paul Cook.

Back in 2021 during his spell as Ipswich, Cook left fans baffled with his voice completely changing mid-interview after a defeat against Plymouth Argyle.

Another sportsman who has had a more permanent change in voice is Tyson Fury, who says his tone completely changed after being punched in the throat.

Fury said back in 2021: "I got punched in the throat in 2015 and it left me with a blood clot in the throat. So it causes me to talk like this. I was supposed to have it removed and I got too afraid.

"I think it sounds better anyway, there's more pain in it."
