Kylian Mbappe has emerged as a doubt for PSG’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich after picking up an injury on Wednesday night, according to reports.

The French forward was withdrawn after 21 minutes during the Parisian’s away trip to Montpellier as he struggled to overcome a thigh problem in the match.

His injury will draw concern for many fans in the French capital – with their clash against Bayern less than two weeks away – but PSG’s boss Christophe Galtier insisted he’s ‘not too worried’ about the Frenchman’s injury.

After PSG’s 3-1 win, Galtier said: ‘He took a knock to the back of the knee or the back of the thigh, so we’ll see. I’m not too worried. It’s a bruise or a contusion, we don’t know yet.

‘With the run of matches we don’t want to take risks with a very busy fixture list, but it doesn’t appear that serious.’

According to ESPN, the French international will undergo scans on Thursday morning to provide a better assessment of his injury status.

He will likely miss all three of PSG’s fixtures – against Toulouse, Marseille and Monaco – prior to their last-16 clash against Bayern, which he remains a doubt for.

To make matters worse, PSG were also forced to withdraw central defender Sergio Ramos from the match after he suffered a clash of heads in the first-half.

Despite the multiple injuries suffered in the match, the Parisians were still able to secure a 3-1 win over Montpellier to extend their Ligue 1 lead to five points.

Mbappe had a night to forget as he missed two penalty attempts and an open goal rebound on the second before being forced off with injury after just 20 minutes.

The French side were awarded a spot-kick in the early stages of the Ligue 1 clash and Mbappe stepped up to take it but saw his effort saved.

VAR gifted the Frenchman a second opportunity, but he again saw his effort miss the mark after it cannoned off the upright.

PSG did manage to get the job done without him though as Lionel Messi took over and scored in a 3-1 victory, seeing them move five points clear.

Galtier will be hoping that his talisman will be fit for the tie, given his impressive scoring form for the French outfit this year.

Mbappe has already notched 13 goals – and got two assists – from his 19 Ligue 1 outings this season.

On top of this, he has seven goals from his six appearances in the Champions League this year and would’ve likely hoped to add to that against Bayern.
