Mauricio Pochettino has played down links between himself and the vacant Manchester United job, insisting that he is ‘really happy’ at Paris Saint-Germain.

Mauricio Pochettino has inssited that he is fully committed to his role with Paris Saint-Germain

However, speaking ahead of PSG’s Champions League clash against Manchester City at the Etihad on Wednesday evening, the former Tottenham head coach refused to be drawn on talking about the role, stating that he was happy in Paris.

‘I am focused in football,’ he told reporters in his pre-match press conference.

‘I am not kid. I’ve spent my whole live playing football. We are in a business where the rumours are there. I completely understand what is going on. Sometimes in a positive way, sometimes in a negative way. This kind of thing cannot distract. We need to live with that.

‘We are so focused. We are giving 100 per cent to try and get our best from the club and the players.

‘I am so happy at PSG. For tomorrow, we are so focused on trying to get the best result we can.

‘We cannot talk about that. What another club is doing in this moment is not my business. I cannot make the mistake to talk because you know very well that everything we say. When I spoke at Espanyol when my dream was to meet Ferguson, that is now going to be misunderstood and taken out of context.

‘Football is today. It’s not tomorrow. The club needs to plan and we need to plan.

‘I think we need to always think about being at the club you are for life, with responsibility.

‘I said to you all, my contract is 2023. I am really happy in Paris Saint-Germain. It’s a fact.’
