Mauricio Pochettino 'facing battle to keep Mason Mount at Chelsea'
Mauricio Pochettino ‘is facing an uphill battle to keep Mason Mount at Chelsea next season’ with relations between the midfielder and Blues chiefs ‘at an ALL-TIME LOW’ as he edges closer to an exit amid interest from Liverpool
- Pochettino has agreed a deal to become Chelsea’s new manager this summer
- He is keen to keep Mount but it’s looking increasingly likely he will leave
- There has been contract stand-off between the two parties for many months
Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea arrival has come too late to convince Mason Mount to stay at Chelsea, according to reports.
Pochettino has agreed a deal to become the Blues’ new manager at the end of the season, and faces a major rebuilding task as the club look to bounce back from what seems set to be a bottom half finish in the Premier League.
One of the tasks at hand will be sorting out the squad at the club, which is crammed with players that need offloading before they can even think about signing more.
Mount is one of the players the club and Pochettino would like to stay, with the 24-year-old having gone through the academy before going on to become a first team regular and win the Champions League.
But it’s believed there is a contract stand-off between the club and the midfielder, with Pochettino, according to The Sun, unlikely to be able to do anything to convince the England midfielder to stay.

Mount was reportedly offered a one-year contract extension in February, but it was rejected and seen as a way to raise his transfer value.
He has been heavily linked with Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to bounce back from their own poor season and rebuild their midfield.
He’s said to be valued at around £60million and seems set to be one of several players to depart Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.
Mount is currently injured and hasn’t played for several weeks, but he could return for the Blues’ final two games of the season against Manchester United and Newcastle.
If he doesn’t make it, it’s likely he’s played his last game for Chelsea with it believed his relationship with the club is at an all-time low.
That will come as a blow to Pochettino, who has identified Mount as someone who can play an integral role in his team next season.
The Argentine is a big admirer of Mount’s ability on the ball and work-ethic and feels the Blues academy graduate would suit the style he wants to implement.
