Mateo Kovacics shanked strike flies in and Chelsea fans gobsmacked it came off

Mateo Kovacic stunned Chelsea fans by netting a shanked shot against RB Salzburg in their 2-1 win over the side.

The Premier League club faced off against the Austrian outfit at the Red Bull Arena in their Champions League Group E match, with Kai Havertz and the maestro's goal enough to seal the win.

To open the scoring, the Croatian latched onto a loose ball and sliced it in what was a poor effort – but somehow the ball went into the top-corner, leaving fans stunned.

When he is playing at his best there isn't many midfielders who are more fun to watch.” A third wrote: “’I’m gonna be honest, I still think Mateo Kovacic is one of the most underrated players in the Prem.”

Someone stated: “Kovacic needs no backlift to score a goal. #SALCHE How does he even do it?”

The midfielder stunned viewers last weekend after he discarded his kit and wore just his pants as he head towards the tunnel.

After Chelsea drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, the player decided to drop all his clothes and hand them to a fan.

And Kovacic broke his silence after his 'streaking' across the pitch.

Taking to Instagram, the Blues star posted a cartooned drawing of himself in his underwear. Tagging his wife, Izabel, he captioned the image: "Sorry @izakova!"
