Mason Mount’s brother furiously hits out at TalkSPORT tweet after Man Utd debut

Mason Mount’s brother has slated talkSPORT over a tweet about the Manchester United star’s debut. Mount made his competitive bow for the Red Devils in the 1-0 Premier League win over Wolves on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Lewis Mount has fumed after the broadcaster appeared to mock Mount’s display against Wolves with a series of negative stats. A tweet from the account read: “Mason Mount’s Premier League debut for Manchester United: 0 goals, 0 assists, 0 chances created, 0 crosses, 0 tackles won, 0 aerial duels won…”

The post prompted vast ridicule of Mount’s performance online. And Mount’s brother has now slammed the tweet with a rare intervention on Instagram.

“I’ve tried to let this go all day,” he wrote in a story on the social media platform. “But honestly, shame on you @talkSPORT. These players, no, these PEOPLE get enough abuse without you adding fuel to the fire.

“A reminder that he’s had a very successful 18-year career in football, and is a good, kind human being. More than i can say for some of your ‘reporters’.”

Mount was part of an underwhelming United performance against Wolves. Raphael Varane bailed out Erik ten Hag’s side with a late goal against the Midlands outfit, who were unfortunate not to win a stoppage-time penalty.

The 24-year-old started alongside Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in a three-man midfield. None of the trio played particularly well, with Casemiro coming under fire for his display. Former United captain Gary Neville claimed the Brazilian was ‘ripped apart’.
