Police are investigating claims Mason Greenwood has bought designer clothes for his alleged sex victim.
According to The Sun, the Manchester United forward, who is facing charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour, is alleged to have purchased £86 worth of clothes from online fashion brand Luxe To Kill and had them sent to the woman's address last week.
The Sun reported Greater Manchester Police is aware of the alleged purchase and is looking into claims that it might constitute a breach of the 21-year-old's bail conditions. A source told the Sun on Sunday Greenwood had not placed the order.
Greenwood has not responded to the allegations of a breach..
It comes following accusations that Greenwood broke the terms of his bail last month after being allegedly spotted with the victim – who is due to give evidence at the player’s trial next year – in his car.
Greenwood last appeared publicly in Manchester Crown Court last week for a preliminary trial hearing, which will begin on November 27, 2023.
The United footballer remains suspended from the club following his arrest back in January after images and audio were shared on social media. He was also questioned by police over threats to kill.
He was later bailed but was re-arrested last month after he was pictured with his alleged victim in a breach of his conditions. He was remanded in custody after appearing at Manchester magistrates court on October 17 but was released from prison two days later following a private bail hearing.
The attempted rape is alleged to have taken place in October 2021, while his controlling and coercive behaviour charges relate to a period between November 2018 and October this year, where he is alleged to have made threatening and derogatory comments towards the complainant, as well as accessing and monitoring her social media accounts.
The charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm relates to an alleged offence in December 2021.
