Mason Greenwood ‘happy’ with three things in Spain as Man Utd set for talks

Mason Greenwood has taken to Madrid’s weather and food in addition to the house he has lived in since his move to the Spanish capital, it has been claimed. Greenwood is finally excelling at Getafe since making his controversial loan switch from Manchester United, scoring a thumping strike in Saturday’s victory over Almeria.

United insist that Greenwood will not play for the Premier League club again, making the 22-year-old’s future unclear. He penned an initial six-month loan with Getafe which will likely be extended for the remainder of the campaign.

In March, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape, assault, and coercive behaviour against Greenwood – all of which he denied. United activated their own internal investigation, concluding that the forward’s career would be best served away from Old Trafford.

Greenwood moved to Getafe in September and initially took a while to find form. But a sumptuous strike in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Almeria means he now has four goals and three assists in 720 minutes of competitive football.

According to The Athletic, Greenwood is enjoying life in Madrid. He has been living with his partner, their daughter, in addition to other members of his family. United also sent support staff to live alongside the academy graduate.

It is claimed that he is ‘happy’ with the Madrid weather and food. He has also taken a liking to his new home, where he feels away from the media spotlight.

Talks over Greenwood’s long-term future will reportedly be scheduled for April, a month before the season ends. Getafe are reportedly hoping that the one-cap England international’s excellent form continues, with the mid-table side keen to keep him beyond the campaign.

United insist that Greenwood has no future at Old Trafford. However, that decision was made by a sporting department that could be moved on over the coming months.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s £1.4billion bid for 25 per cent of the Premier League club is soon expected to receive the green light. The likes of CEO Richard Arnold and sporting director John Murtough are expected to move on from their roles.

That could open up the prospect of United’s new hierarchy taking a different view on Greenwood’s future. It remains to be seen where he will be playing his football next season.
