Martinez hails Man Utd fans’ ‘incredible’ flag – but it’s banned at Old Trafford
Lisandro Martinez has hailed a flag dedicated to him by Manchester United fans despite it reportedly being banned from Old Trafford.
The centre-back has rapidly become a fan favourite since his £56.7million summer arrival from Ajax thanks to his solid showings at the heart of Erik ten Hag's defence. Such is the love for him from the Red Devils supporters that some of them created a banner in his honour.
They had a meat cleaver put over the top of a giant Argentina flag in recognition of his home country and nickname, 'The Butcher'. After seeing it online, Martinez re-posted it his Instagram story and wrote "incredible" in his native Spanish tongue.

The flag had been hung from a bridge near the Theatre of Dreams, but it seems it wasn't allowed inside the ground due to the potential suggestion of violence given it featuring an image of a blade.
Martinez has defied early doubts about his 5ft 9 height to establish himself as one of the Premier League's best defenders so far this season. He's one of the first names on Erik Ten Hag's team sheet, starting all but one game across all competitions.

He put in another assured performance in the 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday, registering a 92% pass accuracy and winning seven of hie eight duels on the ground and in the air.
Harry Maguire partnered him in defence in the absence of Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof, with United legend Gary Neville telling Sky Sports: "Harry Maguire has to get used to playing on the right side of Manchester United’s defence.
"There is no way he’s going to get his spot on the left side. Lisandro Martínez has made that position his own."
