Martin Tyler to be ‘replaced by Peter Drury’ after iconic commentator’s exit
Premier League fixtures 2023/24
Sky Sports have reportedly chosen Peter Drury to replace Martin Tyler as their lead football commentator, after Tyler confirmed his departure from the broadcaster. Tyler did not have his contract renewed and Drury, who has led NBC Sport’s coverage of English football, is set to take over the microphone.
The Daily Mail have claimed that a deal has been agreed for Drury to take over duties from Tyler, who received countless tributes on social media following his Sky Sports exit.
NBC and Sky are both owned by Comcast, which would likely aid in facilitating the move, which is proving hugely popular as Drury has delighted supporters for decades and many tipped him to be the natural successor to Tyler after 33 years with Sky Sports before his departure.
An announcement from Sky Sports is expected in the near future, with Drury set to provide coverage for one game per week – likely the showcase fixture on either Sunday, Monday or midweek.
