Martin Odegaard’s stance on Arsenal future after Mikel Arteta admission
Martin Odegaard already has thoughts about staying at Arsenal beyond the current season.
It comes after Mikel Arteta's latest admission on the Real Madrid loanee, who was in inspired form at the weekend.
With the Gunners 3-0 down to West Ham after 30 minutes, they were in desperate need of a hero.
And that is exactly what they got in the shape of Odegaard, who despite being just 22 looked a cut above the rest.
His composure, class and creativity was a massive factor in Arsenal's remarkable comeback which saw them draw 3-3 with the Hammers on Sunday, with Alexandre Lacazette striking late.
It has intensified talk of a permanent move from Real Madrid in the summer, a question Odegaard already has a view on.
According to EuroSport, the Norway international does not want to return to the Bernabeu if Zinedine Zidane is in charge – with the Frenchman not especially keen on the midfielder.
The report also states that his form at Arsenal will play a major factor and if he continues to enjoy his time at the Emirates, he is happy to stay.
It comes after Arteta's admission that Odegaard is already a leader in north London after a stellar fine few games.
As well as his display against West Ham, two stunning goals against Olympiacos and Tottenham have seen his stock rise among fans and pundits alike.
