Martin Odegaard pips Harry Kane to individual gong as Arsenal dominate awards

Martin Odegaard saw off Harry Kane and Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka to win the London Premier League Player of the Year award.

The Norwegian saw off competition from Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane, Fulham hitman Aleksandar Mitrovic, Brentford striker Ivan Toney, and his team-mate Saka. Odegaard began the season under huge pressure, after Mikel Arteta named him as the Gunners' captain.

However, he has made the armband is own, so much so, he could become the first Arsenal captain since Patrick Vieira to lift the Premier League title. Unsurprisingly, he was not the only Gunners ace to take home a huge prize.

Mikel Arteta won the Manager of the Year award after guiding Arsenal to the top of the Premier League. The former Manchester City assistant manager saw off competition from Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens, Chelsea women's manager Emma Hayes, Thomas Frank off Brentford, and Fulham supremo Marco Silva.

Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale also capped off a sensational 18 months at the Emirates by bagging the London Goalkeeper of the Year. Having experienced two consecutive relegations with Sheffield United and Bournemouth, many were skeptical when the North Londoners shelled out £24m for his services.

But after playing his way into the starting XI, Ramsdale has not only established himself as the No.1 shot-stopper, he is an England international and one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. While Saka missed out on the senior gong, he was named as London's Young Player of the Year Award for the second time in his career.

He first won the coveted award in 2021, after cementing his place in Arteta's plans. This season, he has contributed 10 goals and nine assists in 27 Premier League appearances for Arsenal.

Elsewhere, West Ham United legend Mark Noble won the Outstanding Contribution to London Football Award and was celebrated for his 17 years of service to the Hammers.

Moreover, the England Lionesses were also handed the Power of Football Award after winning the European Champions and becoming the first England team to win a major tournament since 1966.

The London Football Awards is now in its 9 th year, with all proceeds from the awards going to Willow, the UK’s only national charity providing Special Days and Special Treats for seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 years old when they are needed most. The charity was founded by Bob Wilson and his wife Megs following the death of their daughter Anna from cancer aged 31.
