Martin Odegaard pens emotional farewell message to Arsenal fans & confirms exit

Martin Odegaard has penned a heartfelt farewell message to Arsenal fans, confirming that his time at the north London club is over and he will definitely return to Real Madrid.

The Norwegian playmaker arrived on loan from the Spanish giants in January and made a big impact, becoming an immediate fans’ favourite and quickly establishing himself in the starting XI.

Manager Mikel Arteta had hoped to secure a permanent deal for Odegaard to remain at the Emirates, but the midfielder is keen to try and cement his place at Real now Zinedine Zidane has left.

Confirming his exit and thanking Arsenal for his short stay, he wrote on Instagram: ‘Thank you so much for these six months.

‘My time with the Arsenal family will always hold a special place in my heart.

‘I wanna thank everyone in and around the club for the way you made me feel like a part of the family since the first day.

‘Special thanks to the fans, even without you guys at the stadium for the majority of the season, I felt you with me at all times.

‘A huge thank you to the boss and his staff for everything I’ve learned during my stay.

‘Thank you also to all my teammates for such a great time on and off the pitch. Will miss you all. Thank you, Gunners family. Always in my heart.’

The return of Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu has given Odegaard a fresh chance to force his way back into the Real squad, having found chances limited under Zidane.

Real also have a limited transfer budget this summer and will need to rely on their army of loan players, unlike Arsenal who are looking to spend big and have been linked with a big-money move for Leicester City’s James Maddison as a potential alternative to Odegaard.
