Manchester United star Anthony Martial was reportedly involved in a training ground bust-up with youth star Dan Gore on Wednesday. The pair were dragged apart and has left Erik ten Hag with another issue to overcome, with the Cristiano Ronaldo saga still fresh in the mind.

Tensions are high at United currently, despite numerous stars not even present at Carrington due to the Qatar World Cup. One player who was surprisingly overlooked by their international manager is Martial, who was not called upon by Didier Deschamps despite his growing injury list.

According to The Mirror, Martial was on the receiving end of a crunching tackle from Under-18 star Gore and furiously approached the teenager. Tempers flared as Martial ‘lashed out’ at the academy product, catching him.

Gore is thought to have ‘stood his ground’ in the confrontation before the two players were quickly separated. The training session was then put on pause whilst Ten Hag dealt with the incident, keen to resolve the matter before senior players were given a midseason break.

The incident is understood to be a common flashpoint that is expected at Premier League outfits, especially when young players are called upon and are desperate to impress.

Martial has shone under Ten Hag so far this season, though his injury problems has made it difficult for the former Monaco star to get a consistent run in the side. Though Ronaldo’s explosive interview – that is likely to see him sacked – means that the door is open for Martial to make the striker spot his own at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has been full of praise for the 26-year-old, with Dimitar Berbatov also a significant admirer of the versatile forward. He told the United club site: “I have my love for certain players in the [current United] team. For Anthony Martial, it’s because I used to play with him. I want to see him play, I want to see him go out there and do what he can do. I hope he can stay fit – and that goes for every player, for sure.”
