Marcus Rashford set to miss start of Man Utd's season after opting for surgery
Manchester United are likely to be without Marcus Rashford for the opening weeks of the 2021/22 season after the striker decided to opt for surgery to clear-up one of his long-term issues.
The 23-year-old played 59 times for United this season, despite carrying a number of persistent injuries along the way.
Rashford has endured pain in his foot, as well as a long-term problem with his shoulder that kept him out for around four months in 2020.
While Rashford ideally needs procedures to clear up both issues, the Mirror claim he’s prioritising a problem with his foot and will have surgery on the problem after the European Championships.
Rashford postponed having surgery throughout the season in order to help United and he will play through the pain barrier at the Euros to avoid missing out on the chance of glory with England.
England have set a minimum target of the semi-finals and should they reach the final on July 11th, Rashford will have just 34 days to recover for the start of the Premier League season if he was to have immediate surgery.
United have a host of options in attack and will give Rashford all the time he needs to recover, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope to have Jadon Sancho at his disposal by that point.
