Marcus Rashford equals Wayne Rooney record as Man Utd fight back against Leeds

Marcus Rashford equalled a Wayne Rooney record for Manchester United as they fought back to draw 2-2 with Leeds.

The in-form Rashford got United back into the game on Wednesday (February 8) evening after they'd fallen 2-0 behind to the visiting strugglers, who had taken the lead in the first minute through Wilfried Gnonto and saw it doubled when Raphael Varane scored an own goal.

He headed home from Diogo Dalot's cross before Jadon Sancho found an equaliser, which was the first time a player has scored in six consecutive Premier League appearances at Old Trafford since Rooney in April 2012.

In that run Rashford has also netted against West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Man City and Crystal Palace.

It's not the first time he's put his name in the United history books this season, either. His run of scoring in nine straight home games in all competitions, which ended against Reading in the FA Cup last month, toppled Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud Van Nistelrooy's best efforts of six each.

Rashford now has 12 goals in 14 games since the World Cup, a stark contrast to his form before the international break. He's been thriving back out on the left wing under Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman opted to start him on the right of the attack against Leeds, however, which saw him have little impact on the game in a drab first half before he switched him back after the break.

On Rashford's position, his boss said post-match: "First of all this game we will analyse and reflect then we will see how the team is and pick the starting XI."
