Marcus Rashford close to new Man Utd deal as ‘biggest of his career’ on table

Erik ten Hag previews FA Cup final

Marcus Rashford plans to stay at Manchester United for years to come after the club’s Champions League return, according to reports. The 25-year-old is expected to sign a bumper new contract at Old Trafford, fittingly rounding off his electric start to life under Erik ten Hag.

Rashford’s future has been a prominent talking point in Ten Hag’s first season in charge. His current deal is set to expire next year.

But it hasn’t affected his form, with the forward loving life under the Dutchman and recording a career-best 30-goal campaign.

He is the first United player to reach that tally since Robin van Persie under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 2012/13 season.

And Rashford intends to soon put pen to paper on a contract extension at his boyhood club to end speculation surrounding an exit.

According to The Sun, the England international plans to snub strong Paris Saint-Germain interest and commit his future to United.

His successful first season under Ten Hag in M16 has convinced him that his career is best placed as a staple of United’s attack.

A source said: “Marcus is staying at United. He was waiting to see if the club got into the Champions League, and now they have, he is delighted.

“He loves playing for Ten Hag and believes he has delivered on all of his promises. The deal he is negotiating is the biggest of his career, and still has work left in it.

“But both sides want the same thing — for Marcus to sign and stay at United for many more years.”

Rashford’s match-winning contributions across his 56 appearances in the 2022/23 campaign won over the hearts of fans and team-mates.

Last week, he won his first Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, as voted by Red Devils fans.

The No 10 was also named Players’ Player of the Year, beating Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Bruno Fernandes to the honours.

Rashford could agree new terms this summer ahead of the new season, in which United will be eyeing bigger and better things under Ten Hag’s watch.
