  • Saka is absent because he is still with Arsenal receiving treatment for an issue

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford sat out of England training on Wednesday but is continuing his rehabilitation from a foot problem.

Bukayo Saka, meanwhile, has yet to join Gareth Southgate’s setup and is still with Arsenal for assessments over an ongoing issue but there is still hope he will join the England fold later this week.

England face San Marino on Thursday night before locking horns with Albania and Poland in World Cup qualifying.

Otherwise, England boss Southgate should have a fully fit squad at his disposal as the Three Lions kick-start their World Cup qualifying campaign at Wembley on Thursday.

Rashford is all but certain to miss the San Marino clash and it means Southgate will have a minor selection quandry in attack.

His captain Harry Kane is fit and ready to spearhead England’s attack but as Sportsmail reported on Tuesday, the England boss is mindful of how much football Kane has played this season.

Kane has scored 32 international goals and is well on the way to breaking Wayne Rooney’s record of 53. Games against minnows San Marino offer Kane a good chance to narrow the gap further but Southgate could well prioritise Kane’s welfare.

Jude Bellingham reported for England duty after German government gave him exemption

Jude Bellingham is in contention to feature after he was allowed to report for international duty with the German government giving the Borussia Dortmund midfielder quarantine exemption.

Southgate even admitted when he named his squad for the three qualifiers that he did not expect the 17-year-old Bellingham to be allowed to join up with his side.

After San Marino on Thursday, England are away to Albania on Sunday and then face Poland back at Wembley the following Wednesday.
