Marcos Rojo close to Man Utd transfer exit confirms Solskjaer
Marcos Rojo is on the brink of leaving Manchester United before the end of the January transfer window, it has been confirmed.
The Argentine defender has been at the club since signing from Sporting Lisbon in 2014, but hasn’t featured for the Red Devils since November 2019.
Rojo was sent out on loan to Estudiantes last January, the club he began his career at, and is now within touching distance of sealing a permanent return to his home country.
It’s widely reported that Boca Juniors are to complete the signing of the 30-year-old, whose United contract is set to expire this summer.
“It’s likely that Jesse’s loan deal with West Ham is going through, likely that Marcos goes back to Argentina,” Ole Gunner Solskjaer said.
“Little bit of paperwork left to be done, I think.”
Sergio Romero was also linked with a move away from Old Trafford this month, though the United keeper is yet to reach a transfer breakthrough with any club.
Solskjaer now expects the 33-year-old shot-stopper to remain a United player until his contract ends in June.
“Sergio, I’ve not heard anything there apart from that he’ll be with us for the rest of his contract,” said the Red Devils’ boss.
