Mane and Cancelo 'won't be playing for Bayern Munich next season'

Sadio Mane and Joao Cancelo ‘have NO future at Bayern Munich’, as Thomas Tuchel turfs out ex-Liverpool star after his bust-ups and goal drought and sends Man City loanee back to Premier League

  • Reports in Germany suggest both players will be leaving in the summer
  • Cancelo is being linked with another loan next season, this time with Barcelona
  • Bayern are prepared to cut their losses on Mane, who only signed last year

Sadio Mane and Joao Cancelo ‘have no future at Bayern Munich’ with both players expected to depart the German club this summer.

Senegal forward Mane, 31, only joined the Bundesliga champions in a deal worth an initial £27.4million from Liverpool last summer.

He has scored 12 times for Bayern in an injury-disrupted campaign but it will be best remembered for his dressing room bust-up with Leroy Sane after they lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the Champions League.

Mane’s game time has been limited all season and that situation has barely changed since Thomas Tuchel replaced Julian Nagelsmann as their manager.

He was only introduced from the bench five minutes from the end of their 6-0 win over Schalke on Saturday, though did tee up Noussair Mazraoui to score in stoppage time.

And Sky Sport Germany report this was a ‘clear sign’ Mane will be put on Bayern’s transfer list this summer. They add only Premier League clubs are likely to be able to afford Mane’s €20m [£17.4m] salary.

Meanwhile, Portugal right-back Cancelo, 28, has spent the second-half of the season on loan at Bayern from Manchester City.

He has featured in 19 games during the spell, scoring once and setting up six further goals.

His loan deal included the €70m [£60m] option for Bayern to buy Cancelo from City this summer but Sky report this isn’t looking likely despite the possibility of haggling Bayern down in price.

With Cancelo adamant he won’t be returning to City after falling out of favour with Pep Guardiola, reports suggest Barcelona are interested in taking him on loan next season.

Bayern require two wins from their remaining two Bundesliga games to wrap up another title

Bayern are engaged in a nip and tuck race for the Bundesliga title. With two rounds of the season remaining, they are just a point clear of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the standings.

They host RB Leipzig this Saturday before making the trip to Cologne on the final afternoon – May 27. Dortmund, meanwhile, travel to Augsburg this Sunday before entertaining Mainz.

This would be the only silverware of an underwhelming season at the Allianz Arena, with Bayern crashing out 4-1 on aggregate to City in the Champions League quarter-finals and defeated by Freiburg at the same stage of the German Cup.
