Manchester United are eyeing Kylian Mbappe as a potential replacement for Edinson Cavani next summer, reports say. The France international’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain is winding down and due to expire next summer. And though Real Madrid are considered frontrunners in the race to land the 22-year-old, the Red Devils are interested as well.
According to ESPN, United have placed Mbappe on a list of four potential replacements for Cavani.
Harry Kane remains on their radar, despite Manchester City looking likelier to win the race for the Tottenham hitman.
Lautaro Martinez is on there, too, with Inter Milan open to jettisoning the Argentina international in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
United are still keen to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, despite being rebuffed back in January 2020.
And it’s stated that Mbappe has now been made a target, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer interested in bringing the youngster to Old Trafford.
So Express Sport will now take a look at how the Red Devils could line up with Mbappe at the tip of their attack, as well as with a new full-back and central midfielder.

Goalkeeper: Dean Henderson
David De Gea started United’s opening day win over Leeds at Old Trafford.
But, when Dean Henderson has made enough progress when it comes to battling long COVID, the England star is expected to be Solskjaer’s No 1.
Henderson was given a run of games in the position last term, often blowing hot and cold.
But with the Red Devils looking to play more on the front foot this campaign, his distribution gives him an edge over De Gea.
Both goalkeepers have been linked with moves away but neither is likely to depart by the time the transfer window slams shut on August 31.

Defence: Trippier, Maguire, Varane, Shaw
The report mentions that United still want to sign a full-back.
And Kieran Trippier has been linked throughout the summer window, having sparkled for both Atletico Madrid and England over the past year.
Should he sign, he’d likely take Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s place in the team.
Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire are expected to be Solskjaer’s first-choice defensive pairing, especially with the former recently arriving from Real Madrid.
And nobody will be ousting Luke Shaw from the left-back slot anytime soon.
Midfield: Neves, Pogba, Fernandes
It’s also stated by the publication that United are still aiming to sign a new midfielder this summer, despite being well-stocked in the position.
And Ruben Neves remains on their radar at the current moment in time.
Wolves want £40million to part ways with their prized asset and whether United pay that fee now, or wait until next year, remains to be seen.
Playing ahead of the Portugal star, if he moves to Old Trafford, will be Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.
The pair were excellent against Leeds recently and Solskjaer is hopeful their partnership can be the key to title glory.
Attack: Sancho, Mbappe, Rashford
What a front three this would be.
United are eyeing Mbappe with Cavani expected to leave next summer, with the 34-year-old still dreaming of playing for Boca Juniors one day.
He’d walk into the side as the club’s No 9, with Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford then deployed on the flanks.
Sancho recently joined the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund for a massive £73million.
And Rashford will be a regular again once he recovers from shoulder surgery.
