  • The forward is reportedly available for £10million after his valuation was slashed
  • RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg says the Bundesliga club should sign him

Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga has been recommended to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig by his Sweden team-mate, Emil Forsberg.

United are understood to be open to fielding offers for Elanga this summer after his lack of game time during Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge.

The forward, 21, started just seven matches across all competitions and has openly admitted to feeling ‘frustrated’ with his lack of opportunities at Old Trafford.

With club figures said to have lowered their valuation of Elanga to only £10million, Leipzig have been touted to make a cut-price move for him.

And one of their key players has now endorsed the move and even revealed he plans to speak to the club’s president to push home the need for the deal.

Emil Forsberg, Elanga’s team-mate with Sweden, will speak to Leipzig’s president over a deal

‘I will sit down with the president, with Oliver [Mintzlaff], here soon and see what we should do,’ Leipzig midfielder Forsberg told Fotboll Skanalen.

‘We’ll see. Anthony would have been a good fit with us. A young player who wants to get better. We’ll see. It can happen.

‘I have spoken to Anthony. But it stays between us. I know Anthony quite well, so it’s quite normal if it were to come up.

‘But he is a young and talented player who fits in with us. We have been good at developing young and talented players.’

Forsberg has made over 300 appearances during his eight-year stint at Leipzig and earned 80 caps for Sweden, with several of his outings coming alongside Elanga.

Elanga (pictured in action for his country) faces an uncertain future and may leave United

The winger started just seven matches during Erik ten Hag’s successful first campaign

Speaking in March, Elanga addressed his bit-part role at United.

He told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet: ‘It is frustrating. You want to play, it’s important. But whether you play or not, it’s up to the coach not me.’

Elanga then added: ‘I know what he wants me to do and I just keep training hard. When the opportunity comes, I just have to be ready to take it.

‘We have a lot of conversations, not only about [the game time] but also what is happening around. That’s the good thing, we talk a lot and they help me a lot.’
