Manchester United chiefs are none the wiser over Paul Pogba’s future due to recent silence from his agent Mino Raiola. Pogba is out of contract at United at the end of next season. The Frenchman is currently out injured with a thigh injury but is set to return at some point this month.

Pogba has often been subject of transfer speculation during his second spell at Old Trafford.

The France international was in and out of the United side at the start of this season.

However, he became a regular starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before his latest injury setback suffered in the 3-3 draw with Everton a month ago.

But United are still unaware of what both Pogba’s and Raiola’s intentions are for next season.

The Red Devils do not know which clubs are interested in the 27-year-old and what contract demands he would have if he was open to staying in Manchester.

Pogba has divided opinion since his then world-record £89million return to United in 2016.

He has scored 36 goals in 185 games for the club in the last four-and-a-half years.

Speaking in December, Raiola said Pogba was unhappy at United and would look to leave the club.

“Paul is unhappy with Man Utd as he is no longer able to express himself in the way that he would like and as he is expected to,” Raiola said.

“Paul needs a new team, a change of air.”

The super agent moved to clarify his comments later that month.

Raiola said Pogba was looking for a summer exit rather than a move in the January window.

“When it comes to him in England they are sensitive, perhaps too sensitive,” Raiola said.

“In January the great players hardly move, then in the summer let’s see what happens.

“Pogba will have a great future.”

Speaking in February, Solskjaer insisted Pogba was a United player “through and through” and there had been talks over a new deal.

“We’ve got a good open dialogue with Paul so what we talk about and how we see that situation remains between us,” Solskjaer said.

“I’m just happy he’s focused and playing really well. He’s happy within himself and that’s important: you can see Paul enjoying football himself with a red shirt on.

“Our conversations remain private, of course. But for example, Paul is a Manchester United player through and through. He’s been here in two spells.

“He came as a kid, he’s learnt about the history of the club, the passion of the club.

“He wants to do the best for United when he’s here and I think we’ve seen that – that he really cares for his team and he’s trying to be as successful as everyone else.”
