The Premier League giants have bought themselves time to negotiate longer deals for the England forward as well as Luke Shaw, Digo Dalot and Fred.

That quartet have all played pivotal roles over the course of the early stages of Erik ten Hag’s reign and none will now be allowed to negotiate with rivals clubs in January as would have been the case prior to clauses in their current contracts being triggered.

United must still move quickly to secure the long-term futures of four senior players, with Rashford a priority given his status as well as Paris Saint-Germain’s renewed interest.

The 25-year-old endured a period in the doldrums following his Euro 2020 heartache but has been rejuvenated by Ten Hag’s arrival.

Rashford’s renaissance has alerted the attentions of Ligue 1 giants PSG who have coveted the versatile forward in the past.

‘Again, he is another player that is really amazing and for free, to have Rashford for free, every club would run after him, definitely,’ Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG president, told Sky Sports earlier this month.

Definitely, there is no hiding it, we spoke before on the interest but the moment was not a good moment for both sides.

‘Maybe, summer why not? But today if he is a free agent we can talk to him directly but we are not going to talk to him now.

‘Let him focus on the World Cup and after hopefully in January we will talk to him.’
