Although he has frequently been linked with a move away from Tottenham – Manchester City attempted to sign him two years ago – Kane has remained in north London.
Making the switch to join Erik ten Hag’s side could boost Kane’s hopes of winning a trophy for the first time in his career.
If they are unsuccessful in their pursuit of Kane, United have other options to consider such as Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta.
Osimhen could cost £130million, which would be too expensive for United.
United are also looking to strengthen other areas of their team, with Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount under consideration.
Ten Hag’s side are set to launch a £55m bid for Mount.
Mount, who like Kane has a year left on his contract, has also been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool.
