Manchester United star Paul Pogba can see himself staying at the club having previously been eyeing a move away from Old Trafford, according to reports. The France international has long been linked with a potential transfer to Juventus or Real Madrid. But he may now be set to stay at “The Theatre of Dreams.”

Pogba has tried to leave Manchester United on several occasions in recent years.

He pressed to join Barcelona back in the summer transfer window of 2018 having fallen out with Jose Mourinho, only for the Portuguese to refuse to sanction an exit.

Pogba wanted to leave United in 2019, too, regularly hailing Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane.

His time with the Red Devils appeared to be over when his agent Mino Raiola, speaking in December, insisted his client would leave.

“I can say that it’s over for Paul Pogba at Manchester United,” he said just 24 hours before their Champions League exit at the hands of RB Leipzig.

“Paul is unhappy with Man United as he is no longer able to express himself in the way that he would like and as he is expected to. Paul needs a new team, a change of air.

“He is under contract for the next 18 months and it will expire in the summer of 2022.”

Yet now, ESPN claims Pogba can see himself staying at United.

And, what’s more, he expects talks with the Red Devils over a potential new contract to commence at the end of the season.

It’s claimed the 2018 World Cup winner is enjoying his football, with Solskjaer deploying him on the left wing in recent times.

And that’s led to a big improvement from Pogba, who has scored two goals and registered four assists in his last eight matches across all competitions.

Pogba was said to say he was ‘happy’ at Old Trafford a few times after their 6-2 victory over Roma last week, a match he scored in.

And Didier Deschamps is contemplating whether to play the 28-year-old in the same position as Solskjaer at the European Championships this summer.

United have seen Pogba blow hot and cold ever since his return from Juventus nearly five years ago.

But it now looks as though he’s ready to stay at the club and help them win the Premier League title, a trophy that’s evaded them ever since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

Lee Shape recently gushed over Pogba, insisting keeping the Frenchman should be a priority for his former club.

“If Paul Pogba’s heart is at Manchester United I’d be trying my best to get him a new contract before the end of the summer,” he told William Hill.

“I think if he doesn’t want to sign and his head has been turned to go elsewhere then I would sell him right at the start of the summer so I’ve got all summer to find a replacement and go and get another world-beater, but for me I’d try and keep him at the club.”

Sharpe then added: “I’m a bit of a Paul Pogba fan, if I’m honest.

“I love him, love watching him. I think he’s a class above most players in the Premier League when he’s on his game.

“If we can get him fit and keep him fit and give him a run in the team I think he’ll win games for you.

“I know defensively he’s a little bit lacking at times but I think sometimes the greatest players that go forward and create for you are not great defensively.

“So I think you need to put players around them to protect against that.

“But going forward he’s the type of player who gets in situations, takes defence into attack, goes past people, we’ve seen he can score goals and create goals, a wonderful player.”

Pogba said in January that he wouldn’t rest on his laurels.

“I’m on contract, I’m here, I’m enjoying myself,” said the midfielder.

“Everybody knows that I have one year left, I’m going to speak with the club, see what’s going on.

“Is this the best Pogba for Man Utd? I hope not! I hope I can do even better.”
