Manchester United transfer target Raphael Varane has decided he wants to move to the Premier League this summer, according to reports. Varane is out of contract at Real Madrid at the end of next season.
United and Chelsea have been linked with the signature of the France international.
The Red Devils are in the market for a defender to be the long-term partner of club captain Harry Maguire.
Neither Victor Lindelof or Eric Bailly have been able to nail down a starting spot under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And ahead of tonight’s Europa League final against Villarreal, United have been dealt a boost in their pursuit of Varane.
JUST IN: Tottenham appointing Antonio Conte may be good news for Chelsea and Arsenal plans
Spanish outlet Sport says the 28-year-old has decided England is where he wants to play his football when he leaves Real.
They report states a departure this summer is likely as Real would not want to sell him for free in 2022.
Manchester City and Liverpool are also listed as clubs interested in signing Varane.
However, City’s need for a centre-back is not as great as United’s, with Pep Guardiola having Ruben Dias, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake to call upon.

Liverpool are in the market for a defender but look set to sign Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig, making a move for Varane extremely unlikely.
Therefore, United could be in pole position to seal Varane’s signature.
Sport says Real would want between £56.2million and £60.5m for Varane.
Varane may not be the only Frenchman to depart the Bernabeu, with manager Zinedine Zidane widely expected to leave his role for a second time.
The money Real receive for Varane will go towards their pursuit of either Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe or Borussia Dortmund frontman Erling Haaland.
Speaking in April, Varane claimed he had a “clear” mind over where his future lied.
He said: “My future is clear. I am focused on the end of this season. We are in a very intense and key moment.
“It is normal that my focus is on the end of the season. The message to the fans is that I am 100 per cent committed to the team.
“We have challenges that encourage us a lot. I am focused on giving everything on the field.”
