Manchester United’s owners the Glazers want a fee in the region of £4billion to sell the club, reports say. The Americans have been in charge of things since 2005. But fans now want them gone in the wake of their failed plot to join the European Super League.
For years, United fans have put up with the Glazers.
They were against the American’s coming in back in 2005, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer condemning the move at that time.
Green and gold scarves were, for a while, seen as the key to ousting the owners – but that plan, too, backfired.
Now, however, protests against their ownership are gathering speed again.
United fans are furious after the Glazers tried to make them founding members of a new European Super League, a competition that would have changed the footballing landscape.
And they took to the club’s Carrington training complex on Thursday morning to vent their fury, with Solskjaer having to talk them round.

Now, Football365 claim that United’s owners would want a sale for around £3.5bn – – a fee that would be a six-fold increase on what they paid 16 years ago.
However, it’s said some financiers have suggested they’d actually only start to listen to offers of at least £4bn instead – to make sure they make even more of a profit.
That’s a lot of money. Not a cash sum that can be raised with a Gofundme, or other similar means.
Instead, it seems as though United will have to hope a rich buyer can be found – with only around 20 people on the planet currently able to cough up such a big amount of cash.
Joel Glazer made a rare statement on Wednesday, acknowledging he’d got the Super League idea all wrong and vowing to do better in the future.
“To all Manchester United supporters,” it read.
“Over the past few days, we have all witnessed the great passion which football generates, and the deep loyalty our fans have for this great club.

“You made very clear your opposition to the European Super League, and we have listened. We got it wrong, and we want to show that we can put things right.
“Although the wounds are raw and I understand that it will take time for the scars to heal, I am personally committed to rebuilding trust with our fans and learning from the message you delivered with such conviction.
“We continue to believe that European football needs to become more sustainable throughout the pyramid for the long-term. However, we fully accept that the Super League was not the right way to go about it.
“In seeking to create a more stable foundation for the game, we failed to show enough respect for its deep-rooted traditions –promotion, relegation, the pyramid – and for that we are sorry.
“This is the world’s greatest football club and we apologise unreservedly for the unrest caused during these past few days.
“It is important for us to put that right.
“Manchester United has a rich heritage and we recognise our responsibility to live up to its great traditions and values.
“The pandemic has thrown up so many unique challenges and we are proud of the way Manchester United and its fans from Manchester and around the world have reacted to the enormous pressures during this period.
“We also realise that we need to better communicate with you, our fans, because you will always be at the heart of the club.
“In the background, you can be sure that we will be taking the necessary steps to rebuild relationships with other stakeholders across the game, with a view to working together on solutions to the long-term challenges facing the football pyramid.
“Right now, our priority is to continue to support all of our teams as they push for the strongest possible finish to the season.
“In closing, I would like to recognise that it is your support which makes this club so great, and we thank you for that.
“With best regards, Joel Glazer.”
United legend Rio Ferdinand, meanwhile, has called on the Glazers and Ed Woodward to explain their reasons for signing up.
“Throws out ideas that won’t affect anybody, but you see the uproar, the turnout, the fallout and I commend the Chelsea fans that went to Chelsea, going bananas, I’d love to see more people do that. These people need to understand,” he told Vibe With Five.
“You can’t come out and give us a blanket cover-up story and not tell us why. Ed Woodward resigned, I want to know why, where are you Ed? I know you personally.
“I want to know why, were you part of this? I could sit here and hammer Ed Woodward, I could sit here and hammer the Glazers. I could sit here and hammer all the owners of these football clubs.
“I don’t want to waste my time doing that, I just want answers. They should be put up on a pedestal, like they wanted to be, these six great clubs, well come out now and answer some questions, that’s what the fans deserve.”
