Manchester United have decided to keep Anthony Martial for the upcoming campaign but could loan out Amad, according to reports. Both players may struggle for action in the wake of Jadon Sancho’s move to Old Trafford. And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s stance on the pair has now come to light.

Manchester United have signed Sancho this summer, paying £73million to land the England international from German giants Borussia Dortmund.

But, while that’s the case, the Telegraph say they have no plans to let Martial leave Old Trafford before the transfer window slams shut on August 31.

The France international was recently linked with a move to Serie A giants Anthony Martial, who are poised to lose Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

Tottenham have also been accredited with an interest in the forward, who has been at the club ever since joining from Monaco in 2015.

But the publication states United have decided to keep Martial for the upcoming season.

Solskjaer doesn’t want the 25-year-old to be depart out of fears his side would be left short in attack, especially with Marcus Rashford sidelined until October at the earliest.

The Norwegian wants a ‘big squad’ to help him manage possible Covid related absences, fatigue and injuries.

And it’s said Solskjaer feels Martial can be an important asset to United, despite the player blowing hot and cold throughout his spell so far.

He netted 23 goals under the 48-year-old in the 2019/2020 campaign, topping the scoring charts ahead of Rashford and Bruno Fernandes.

Yet Martial managed to score just seven times before injury cruelly cut his season short in March, robbing him of the chance to play in the Europa League final.

Regarding Amad, it’s claimed Solskjaer is considering whether to send the youngster on loan.

Signed from Atalanta in January for £36million, the Ivory Coast international is viewed as one of the brightest talents of his generation.

But with Sancho on board, and Martial staying, United are pondering a temporary spell away from the club in order to aid his development.

Solskjaer recently opened up on Martial, meanwhile, after the striker made his first appearance since March in a 4-0 win over Everton.

“Anthony has had a bad spell with injuries, of course these were his first 45 minutes,” he said.

“He’s been training well with us but as players who’ve been out for a while, they need some more sharpness, need some more work.

“He tried to do the right thing; it didn’t come off all the time, but it’s better than what you fear sometimes when he’s been injured for five months – since March.”

At the end of last season, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher questioned whether Martial could lead the line on a weekly basis for United.

“I think they could maybe improve at centre-back but they need a young Cavani, basically. That’s what the club needs,” he said.

“They’ve persisted with Anthony Martial as the striker for a couple of years.

“He’s a good player, but I don’t think he’s a great player who’ll take them to a Premier League or Champions League title, which is what they need.

“So two players at both ends of the pitch – a centre-back and a centre forward – and then I don’t think they’re that far away.”

In other United transfer news, several targets remain under consideration.

Luka Jovic has emerged as one, with the Red Devils discussing the possibility of signing the Real Madrid star.

And Kieran Trippier, Saul Niguez and Ruben Neves remain linked as well.
