Manchester United make Amad Diallo decision as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer axes another star

Man Utd: Solskjaer confident forwards can be match for all

Manchester United new signing Amad Diallo will link up with the main squad after impressing since his arrival from Atalanta in Italy. The youngster has huge potential and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes he has a role to play with the first-team.

One player who looks set to leave Old Trafford though is Jesse Lingard.

The England star has been cut from the 22-man main squad with Diallo set to join in his place.

Lingard has not regularly featured this season and the Manchester Evening News claim the 28-year-old could leave United this month.

Solskjaer also admitted there could be some exits at Old Trafford when asked about Lingard.

“I don’t want to go into individuals but we can probably allow one or two more to go out,” Solskjaer said when asked specifically about Lingard.

“But one of the strengths we have is we have a deep squad, strength in depth. We don’t want to give our advantage away by easing off on our players.”

If Lingard doesn’t leave he could feature in the Europa League with a possible eight matches before the final.

The same can be said of Diallo who United believe could be a star of the future.

As well as Lingard, Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo may leave the Red Devils this month and are surplus to requirements.

Phil Jones is more likely to leave in the summer after injury problems throughout the season so far.

United return to action against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday at Old Trafford (5pm).

Ahead of the match, Solskjaer has admitted he will rotate his side.

He said: “We’ll rotate that’s for sure, but we’ll put a decent team together of course and a team that I feel can win the game.

“Of course the focus is now on the FA Cup.

“We know it’s a difficult tie, I’m not the best on draws, I think they should try to get someone else in if they want an easy draw!”

The Red Devils boss also opened up on the options available to him and how the squad has strength in depth at the moment.

He explained: “I used to play in a decent team and the gaffer had four centre-forwards at least to choose from and with the four front men we’ve got, we have players to choose from who can get us goals in any game against any opposition.

“I’m very pleased with the ones I’ve got and we’re working hard to get the relationships with all of them so we can use them in different ways and sometimes maybe all four of them will play.”
