Manchester United are poised to start Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial alongside Jadon Sancho in attack for this weekend’s Premier League opener with Leeds. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team go into the match looking to get their campaign off to a positive start. And they’ll need the pair to be at their best, rather than the inconsistent players they can sometimes be.
According to The Sun, United are primed to go attacking for this match with Leeds.
Solskjaer will want his side to get off to a positive start, particularly after the Red Devils lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace in their opening match last year.
Sancho will be deployed on the wing, with Bruno Fernandes playing alongside the England international.
And with Marcus Rashford out injured and Edinson Cavani yet to return, the Red Devils are primed to place their faith in Martial and Greenwood.
So Express Sport will now take a look at why the duo have such a point to prove.

Anthony Martial
Will the real Martial please stand up?
When United signed the France international from Monaco back in the summer transfer window of 2015, they were convinced they’d struck gold.
They considered the forward to be a future Ballon d’Or winner, having scouted him extensively during his time with the Ligue 1 giants.
Initially, things started off well.
Martial netted 17 times under Louis van Gaal, helping to fire the club to FA Cup glory in the Dutchman’s final game in charge.

But, ever since, he’s been inconsistent.
Martial did appear to have turned a corner in the 2019/2020 campaign, netting 23 goals across all competitions – more than any other player.
Yet last term was a step backwards for the 25-year-old, who scored just seven times before injury cut his campaign short in March.
With Cavani out, Martial is expected to lead the line.
And it’ll be down to the forward to show he still deserves to be at Old Trafford, after years of blowing hot and cold.

Mason Greenwood
Last season was a testing one for Greenwood, especially at the start of the season.
Sent home from international duty in disgrace after breaching coronavirus rules in Iceland, the England international struggled to get going.
But, by the end of the campaign, the 19-year-old was operating at the peak of his powers.
A goal in a 3-1 defeat to Leicester kickstarted a fine run of form, with the teenager bagging seven more times from his final 13 matches.
There was a maturity to his game towards the end of the season, too, with Greenwood emerging as a leader within Solskjaer’s team.
And, now, his mission is simple: achieve consistency.
This is a big season for Greenwood, who has never had more obstacles in his way when it comes to breaking into the team.
Up top, there’s Cavani in his way.
And, on the right wing and left wing respectively, there’s Sancho and Rashford (when the latter is fully fit).
Greenwood must now hit the ground running if he’s to stay in the side, with Leeds representing the perfect chance for him to show what he’s all about.
