Borussia Dortmund are reportedly targeting PSV Eindhoven attacker Donyell Malen as a primary candidate to replace Jadon Sancho should he leave for Manchester United this summer. It’s expected that an agreement will be reached between Dortmund and United for Sancho before the transfer window closes.

And now Dortmund will be searching for a replacement for the Englishman, with Malen one of their targets.

BILD are reporting that once Sancho has been sold, Dortmund will move for the Dutch international.

The 22-year-old featured in the Netherlands 3-2 victory over Ukraine.

Malen is likely to cost Dortmund around £25.7million (€30m) and has a contract with the Dutch club until 2024.

The report states that, should a good offer come in for the forward, he is expected to depart, with the money boosting PSV’s transfer funds for the summer.

Malen has made 116 appearances for PSV since joining from Arsenal in 2017.

He has netted 55 times for the club, with 27 of those goals coming last season.

Direct, pacey and capable of playing through the middle or as a wide forward, Malen displays excellent finishing combined with clever movement and tricky dribbling.

When asked to describe what sort of player he was a few years ago, former Ajax youth coach Brian Tevreden said: “It’s hard to describe him. If I have to compare him with a player in the Premier League, he seems a bit like Alexis Sanchez.”

Meanwhile, Sancho is reportedly confident he’ll get his way and move to Manchester United this summer, according to reports.

The England international was in outstanding form for Borussia Dortmund last season and he’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top transfer target as a result.

United have tried to sign Sancho in 2017, 2019 and 2020 – only to miss out on all three occasions.

But they’re hopeful they’ll finally get a deal for the 21-year-old over the line, four years on from when they first attempted to snap him up.

The Manchester Evening News say Sancho’s camp are confident a move to United will go ahead, with personal terms now agreed between club and player.

He’s now likely to be strutting his stuff alongside Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, and Bruno Fernandes in Solskjaer’s attack next season.

Sancho isn’t the only player in Solskjaer’s sights as he eyes a summer spending spree, either.

He’s a big admirer of Real Madrid star Raphael Varane, who could leave the Bernabeu behind for a new challenge after a glittering decade in Spain.
