Manchester United ‘adamant’ as maximum fee for Mason Mount transfer revealed

Manchester United are adamant they have to sign Mason Mount for under £60million, according to reports. The Chelsea star is a top transfer target for Erik ten Hag. And he’s still expected to move to Old Trafford, despite a fee being a potential problem.
It’s now an open secret that United want to sign Mount, with the 24-year-old having just a year left on his contract over at Chelsea.
And journalist Ben Jacobs, speaking to GiveMeSport, has claimed the Red Devils want to spend a maximum of £60m for the midfielder.
“This is a high priority for Erik ten Hag, but Manchester United are adamant that they need to be disciplined with Mount, they need to try and get him for under £60m and that, as I’ve said before, is because Manchester United’s transfer policy is restricted,” he said.
“And if they are to bring in a couple of early players, then they’re going to have to try and distribute their budget to allow that to happen rather than using it all up on one player.
“And this is the frustration of Manchester United’s early part of the summer.

“Even with Champions League football, which will increase the budget, the financial fair play cycle that they are in and the ownership uncertainty are still going to make it relatively difficult for Manchester United to move comparative to some of their rivals.”
The problem for United is, however, that Chelsea want big money to let Mount go.
Previous reports have suggested the 24-year-old is valued at £75m ahead of the summer transfer window.
United don’t want to go that high, especially with the England international having just a year left on his contract.
But Chelsea, despite formerly allowing Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata to cross the divide, are likely to put up a fight.

Mount isn’t the only player on United’s radar as they look to challenge for the big trophies next season.
The club would also love to land Harry Kane from Tottenham.
The England international was a shining light for Spurs amid yet another problematic campaign in the capital.
But Real Madrid also want Kane, particularly with Karim Benzema recently announcing his departure from the Bernabeu after 14 years.
United are open to landing a new right-back, too.

Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka improved this season but Ten Hag is still open to landing an upgrade, with Jeremie Frimpong linked.
And a fresh goalkeeper may arrive as well, even if David De Gea is expected to sign a new contract with the club.
Meanwhile, speaking recently, Roy Keane had his say on the possibility of Mount moving to his old side.
“I wouldn’t be so sure about Mount,” he told Sky Sports.
“They’re going to be linked with lots of players but the one that would excite you really is [Harry] Kane.”
He then added: “He’s just gone off the boil a little bit.
“I know he can bounce back and he’s got qualities and I was raving about him a few years ago.
“He’s just gone missing the last year or two, had one or two injuries, the fact he can’t get in a bad Chelsea team.
“I wouldn’t be hanging my hat too much on him in terms of improving United and closing the gap.
“I think he’s a good player but would he improve United? I’m not so sure.”
