Manchester City 'are planning a £30million move' for Aaron Hickey'
Manchester City ‘are planning a £30million move’ for Brentford left-back Aaron Hickey… with Pep Guardiola keen on ‘new and modern’ defenders this summer
- Manchester City have switched to a three-man defence since Joao Cancelo left
- Brentford’s Aaron Hickey is a target for Pep Guardiola’s side due to his versatility
- City are also keen on Fulham’s Antonee Robinson but may be put off by his price
Manchester City will make an attempt to sign Brentford full-back Aaron Hickey this summer, according to a report.
Pep Guardiola’s side have played without a natural left-back since Joao Cancelo’s departure in January, with the Catalan boss switching to a three-man defence instead.
City look certain to address the issue as a high priority this summer as part of Guardiola’s shake-up to the current squad.
The club’s hierarchy want new and ‘modern’ defenders in the squad and will look to acquire Brentford’s Hickey for £30million according to The Sun.
The Scotland international joined the Bees for £14m from Bologna and has impressed with his ability to play on both sides to a high standard.

Brentford will want to keep Hickey at the club but could be tempted if City were to make a big offer for the defender.
Hickey, who missed a large chunk of the season through an ankle injury, has made all of his 20 Premier League appearances at right-back despite joining as a left-back.
City are still also keen on Fulham’s Antonee Robinson but have stalled the move due to the Cottagers’ £30m asking price.
The reigning Premier league champions have faced issues at left-back for some time, with Cancelo, Ake, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Bernardo Silva all deployed there in recent times.
Guardiola is said to have high demands of his full-backs after recently insisting Kyle Walker can not play in the inverted role.
Despite the recent formation change, City are still firmly on the hunt for a treble this season after booking a place in the FA Cup final with a 3-0 win over Sheffield United.
They will seek to close the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal when the Gunners visit the Etihad on Wednesday night.
