Man Utds smart business will see Jadon Sancho transfer paid over five years
Manchester United's savvy business – as part of their proposed transfer deal for Borussia Dortmund's starlet Jadon Sancho – will see them pay the transfer fee over five years rather than upfront.
United's two-year-long pursuit of Sancho looks to have finally reached its culmination, and – on Thursday evening – the Red Devils revealed they had agreed a deal in principle with Dortmund.
Sancho was close to joining United last summer, however, they failed to reach an agreement.
The two parties have agreed to a £73million fee, according to The Athletic, which will be paid in instalments over five years.
This deal means United haven't just saved themselves £30million from Dortmund's initial asking price, but they don't have to fork it over all at once.
This leaves more room in the FFP budget, should United want to make more moves in the transfer market.
The Athletic are reporting that sources inside Old Trafford say there is a feeling of 'vindication' at bringing the supremely talented Sancho back to Manchester – after a spell with Manchester City – for a dramatically cut price.
Ed Woodward, who has been often criticised for his transfer dealings, was at the heart of the deal, and it could be his last significant contribution before he leaves in the winter.
