Manchester United are unlikely to punish Anthony Martial, Dean Henderson and Eric Bailly for their recent outspoken comments, according to reports. The trio have all hit out at some aspects of life at Old Trafford before the appointment of Erik ten Hag as manager. And two of the trio are currently out on loan, while Martial has remained to try and battle his way into the club’s starting XI.
Manchester United had a horrendous campaign last term, toiling as they finished sixth in the Premier League table under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
And Martial, Bailly and Henderson have all been outspoken since though, according to The Athletic, none will face punishment for their actions.
Martial recently slammed Solskjaer, saying: “The last two seasons, I have regularly played injured.
“People don’t know that, I couldn’t accelerate during the four months following the Covid season. Coach Solskjaer tells me that he needs me, so I play.
“Given my game, if I can’t accelerate, it becomes very complicated. And I get set on fire… The coach never bothered to tell the media.

“Obviously, I end up getting injured to good and when I come back, finished, I don’t play anymore.
“I took it very badly. I had a feeling of injustice.
“You are asked to sacrifice yourself for the team and behind you are dismissed. For me, it’s almost treachery, that’s all I hate. I can be blamed, but not for being fake.”
Bailly accused United of favouring English players, with the Ivory Coast international saying following his loan move to Marseille: “The club should avoid favouring English players and give everyone a chance.
“[The club should] encourage competition in the dressing room, not just look out for some. I’ve always had the feeling that the national player was prioritised.

What Ten Hag has told his players about the Glazers
The Glazers have five reasons to sell Man Utd
“That doesn’t happen at Chelsea or other big Premier League clubs. Some people take it for granted that they are going to start, and that weakens the team.
“Luckily [Erik] Ten Hag has a lot of character and I hope he can change that dynamic.”
And Henderson said United broke their promises to him, with the Nottingham Forest loanee saying last month: “I didn’t want the manager to come in and be able to see me in training.
“I knew he’d probably want to keep me, so I tried to do it all before I left for the season.
“I told all the hierarchy I need to go and play football, I don’t want to be here playing second fiddle.

“It was all planned out. I was almost gone before the manager came through the door and I haven’t spoken to him since.
“To be honest with you, it’s probably been the toughest 12 months of my career. It’s been tough, it’s been hard and I’m so happy I’ve got out the other end of it.”
However, despite their brutal comments, United don’t appear fazed.
Given Solskjaer is a figure of the past, their decision not to punish Martial for his comments on the Norwegian – and Jose Mourinho as well – is understandable.
Henderson’s comments were borderline but, given he’s seen as their No 1 for the future, the Red Devils may be wise not to rock the boat.

And though Bailly’s comments were damning, few are expecting the Ivorian to be given a second chance at United.
The trio’s honest approach has been welcomed by some supporters, especially given how much remains secret at Old Trafford.
And whether they can all enjoy improved campaigns, wherever they are, remains to be seen.
United are next in action against Sheriff FC in the Europa League on Thursday night (5.45pm).
They’ll be hoping to bounce back, having lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad in the same competition last week.
