Man Utd’s Henderson ‘personally told’ by Prem owner that an offer will be made
Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson was personally told by Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis that he would attempt to sign him for £30million this summer, reports claim. The England international spent last season on loan at the City Ground but missed much of the campaign through injury.
Henderson made 20 appearances for Forest before a thigh injury suffered in January ruled him out for the remainder of the season. Steve Cooper brought in Keylor Navas on loan from Paris Saint-Germain as cover for the 26-year-old.
Henderson underwent surgery but looks set to be fit for the start of the new campaign. Forest have seemingly made it clear to the player that they want him to return.
The Manchester Evening News says, once their safety in the Premier League was confirmed, Marinakis told Henderson he would sign him for £30m. However, United are yet to receive an offer they deem sufficient enough to accept.

Forest are said to have offered to take Henderson on loan with an obligation to buy if he makes a certain number of appearances. Henderson could now travel with the Red Devils on their pre-season tour to the USA, which departs on Wednesday, with an agreement on his departure not reached.
United don’t want to loan Henderson again after six loan spells at five different clubs in the last seven years. Erik ten Hag is short on goalkeeper options following the departure of David de Gea.
However, Henderson is not part of his plans and will be sold at the right price. Ten Hag is set to bring in his former keeper at Ajax Andre Onana as his new No 1.
Henderson came through the ranks at United and has made 29 appearances for the club. He returned from a successful two-year loan at Sheffield United in 2020 and signed a new five-year contract.

He featured 26 times that season in all competitions and has since claimed he was promised he would be No 1 ahead of De Gea for the 2021/22 campaign. However, struggles with Covid delayed his availability and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stuck with the Spaniard instead.
After signing for Forest last summer, Henderson fumed at his treatment by United. He told talkSPORT in August 2022: “To be honest, it has probably been the toughest 12 months of my career.
“The conversation I had coming out of the Euros squad was ‘You’re coming back here to be the number one’. I got COVID-19, came back, so I should have still been the number one but then nobody followed through with what they had told me.
“It was frustrating, because I turned down so many good loans last summer for that reason, and they would not let me go. To sit there for 12 months, it is criminal really, at my age, I was fuming.”
