Manchester United are being forced to draw up plans for how they can replace Paul Pogba, with the midfielder edging closer to leaving the club. Pogba is out of contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to sign a new deal to stay at Old Trafford.

Instead, the Frenchman’s heart is thought to be set on moving to La Liga giants Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Los Blancos have long been linked with the World Cup winner, who was the most expensive player in Premier League history when he joined United.

But he has failed to live up to expectations, with his performances never consistent enough and constant talk of an exit.

Now, that talk will be realised, with Pogba hoping to move to the Santiago Bernabeu to link up with Carlo Ancelotti’s league leaders.

Amadou Haidara

RB Leipzig star Amadou Haidara has history with Rangnick, having played under him during the United manager’s spell in charge of the Bundesliga club.

Haidara has become one of the best midfielders in Germany since joining Leipzig, mainly playing in a deeper role.

While he is thought to have a £33million release clause in his contract, United are facing competition from Newcastle for his signature.

John McGinn

John McGinn has been a revelation for Aston Villa since the Midlands club were promoted back into the Premier League.

The Scottish international has impressed over recent seasons in his central midfield position and has even been named captain on a handful of occasions.

He has already matched his goals return from last term, drawing the eye of United, though Liverpool have also been linked with a move for him.

Jude Bellingham

English football’s next superstar Jude Bellingham has excelled for Borussia Dortmund after being signed from Birmingham City.

Bellingham’s all-action displays have made him a regular in Marco Rose’s side at the age of just 18 and helped Dortmund to win the DFB-Pokal last season.

His performances at Signal Iduna Park have not gone unnoticed, with a range of top European clubs thought to be eyeing the young England international.

Ryan Gravenberch

Ajax star Ryan Gravenberch could be an outside chance to fill Pogba’s shoes, having impressed in his home country.

He has been a regular under Erik ten Hag over the past two seasons, helping Ajax to win the league and cup double last term.

His performances earned him a call-up to the Netherlands national side in November 2020, while his experience playing under United managerial target Ten Hag may stand him in good stead.
